H.A.N.D.S

Who We Are

The H.A.N.D.S Program is a community initiative designed to support homebound seniors who face challenges in accessing essential food and supplies. Recognizing that a lack of transportation can severely impact a senior's well-being, H.A.N.D.S provides a vital service to ensure their needs are met.

Beyond the delivery of essential goods, H.A.N.D.S recognizes the importance of social interaction for seniors. Volunteer drivers are carefully selected not only for their reliability but also for their ability to provide friendly companionship. These weekly visits offer seniors a valuable opportunity to:

Engage in conversation

Share their thoughts and feelings

Combat feelings of isolation and loneliness

This human connection can have a profound impact on their emotional well-being.

The H.A.N.D.S. Program is more than just a delivery service; it is a lifeline for homebound seniors in our community. By providing essential groceries and supplies, as well as valuable social interaction, the program helps to improve the well-being and quality of life for seniors who might otherwise struggle to remain independent. Through the combined efforts of volunteer drivers and the packing team, H.A.N.D.S. strives to meet the needs of over 65 seniors each week, exemplifying the power of community support.

What We Do

The program's success relies on a dedicated team of volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes. These volunteers are responsible for preparing and bagging the essential items for our seniors, ensuring that everything is organized and ready for the drivers to pick up and deliver. Their commitment and hard work are essential to the smooth operation of the H.A.N.D.S. Program.

The H.A.N.D.S. Program goes beyond simply delivering groceries. Recognizing the importance of social interaction for seniors, our volunteer drivers also provide much-needed companionship. Each week, they take the time to chat with the seniors they serve, offering a friendly face and a listening ear. This regular human interaction can significantly improve the seniors' quality of life, combating feelings of isolation and loneliness.
